Album Review: Watching Movies With The Sound Off by Mac Miller

Mac Miller

Some records have themes and concepts, others are built around the radio singles, the aliterate rely on production, but once in awhile, an album is based on the artist growing in life, and the music vicariously lives through those emotions and thoughts.

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 14

Good Monday.

Beach House has a fresh, sexy single out and announced the release date for their fourth LP Bloom (May 15). Hopefully this is an indication of more to come from the Baltimore Dream Pop group.
Mac dropped a remix yesterday of my favourite track off Blue Slide Park “Of The Soul.” Enlisting Posdnuos (De La Soul) and Raekwon for some slick verses over a slick beat from I.D. Labs.
New single from John Mayer. Born And Raised due out May 22.

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 13

Happy Monday to everyone. Shake those cobwebs.

Tanlines released another single this week, they’re gearing up for their debut LP Mixed Emotions coming in just over two weeks.
Maybach Music Group’s explicit version of “Bag Of Money” was finally released this afternoon. Self Made, Vol. 2 on it’s way.
Arcade Fire is joining another super-duper stacked soundtrack for the film The Hunger Games (aka another Twilight soundtrack).
Mac Miller dropped two tracks this week for an upcoming project Macadelic, only one of which was worthy of posting.
Two beauty house remixes this week, one for Wiz Khalifa’s “Get Sum” done by Sound Remedy, and the other Eric Prydz on M83’s addicting “Midnight City.”
A couple bangers from Ace Hood and Bow Wow to throw in the “Workout Mix.”

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 9

As we all know, the beautiful Lana Del Rey dropped her first LP on the world Tuesday. Despite the less than stellar SNL performance, this record is quite phenomenal. There are a couple non-single tracks in the mix and I would definitely advise you to pick up a copy of Born To Die.
Also joining the mix is a fresh single from WZRD (Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius).
New material from Beach Fossils and Pretty Lights as well.
