Week of K.R.I.T.

Week of KRIT

In last weeks mix, we had the first instalment of Big K.R.I.T.’s Week of K.R.I.T. The Southern rapper dropped one free song a day for six consecutive days to promote his upcoming album Cadillactica, followed by a trailer for the album. The quality of these ‘freebies’ are at a superb level, strong enough to build an album around. Amerigo Gazaway – “Yasiin Gaye: The Departure (Side One)”

Yasiin Gaye

A few mixes ago we posted a track by Amerigo Gazaway, which was a mash-up of Marvin Gaye and Yasiin Bey. Well that track was part of a full project of deconstructed Gaye beats, and Bey (FKA Mos Def) raps. This Nashville producer has tapped into something unique and memorable. Stay tuned for Side Two

CyHi The Prynce – “Hystori: Black History Project”

Hystori

G.O.O.D. Music’s CyHi The Prynce has resurfaced with a brand new mixtape in hand. It’s been over a year since we’ve heard from Cydel Young, but the wait was worth it. 18 tracks (14 minus the interludes & ‘tro’s), and not a single feature required. The 29-year old from Georgia carries the weight of the tape with ease, slanging bars for days. Watch out for CyHi to make a splash in 2014.

Zedd - Find You

Welcome to Volume Ninety-Seven of Monday Blues & Beats. First off, shout out to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on your Grammy dreams coming true. Raheem – “Dying To Live Forever”

Raheem

The young emcee from Toronto, Canada is just beginning to make a name for himself. At just 18 years of age, Jahkoy Palmer has worked with the likes of Nipsey Hussle, Jim Jones and producers Statik Selektah and Tha Bizness, as well as opening for Juicy J in Toronto. It’s hard to put a finger on his sound or style, but if I had to draw a comparison; he’s a combination of The Weeknd, PartyNextDoor, Gilbere Forté with a little Dom Kennedy.
