Good afternoon folks, Happy St. Patricks Day and welcome to Volume 104. This weeks mix brings us new material from the likes of Jay Electronica, Calvin Harris, 50 Cent, Jhené Aiko, Sia, as well as a few dazzling remixes.
Good afternoon AHMers and welcome to Volume 103 of Monday Blues & Beats. I’m not sure if it’s just my ears, but I feel the music industry is churning out week after week of quality tunes. 22 tracks coming at you today from the likes of Frank Ocean, How To Dress Well, Lil Wayne, Kaytranada, Big Sean, Common, Hercules & Love Affair, Daft Punk featuring Jay Z and ODESZA remixing Pretty Lights.
In last weeks mix, we had the first instalment of Big K.R.I.T.’s Week of K.R.I.T. The Southern rapper dropped one free song a day for six consecutive days to promote his upcoming album Cadillactica, followed by a trailer for the album. The quality of these ‘freebies’ are at a superb level, strong enough to build an album around. Hit the jump and download the tracks.
It’s one’o’two of Monday Blues & Beats, and we have a lean, 21-track mix for you. Hope you all enjoyed the Oscar weekend. It was a busy week in the music world, and here we have some new Coldplay, Lupe Fiasco, Amerigo Gazaway, a couple remixes from the likes of Zeds Dead and The Chainsmokers, a posse cut from the HS87 crew and much more.
A few mixes ago we posted a track by Amerigo Gazaway, which was a mash-up of Marvin Gaye and Yasiin Bey. Well that track was part of a full project of deconstructed Gaye beats, and Bey (FKA Mos Def) raps. This Nashville producer has tapped into something unique and memorable. Stay tuned for Side Two
G.O.O.D. Music’s CyHi The Prynce has resurfaced with a brand new mixtape in hand. It’s been over a year since we’ve heard from Cydel Young, but the wait was worth it. 18 tracks (14 minus the interludes & ‘tro’s), and not a single feature required. The 29-year old from Georgia carries the weight of the tape with ease, slanging bars for days. Watch out for CyHi to make a splash in 2014.
Welcome to Volume 100 of Monday Blues & Beats. Who would of thought that what began as a school project for grades, would turn into this. I truly appreciate every single one of my viewers, you guys are the reason I do this. Thank you.
As for this weeks mix, it has both quality and quantity. Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love” received a lot of attention this past week, Kanye, The Weeknd and T.I. all gave their individual take on it. We also have new material from Odesza, Meek Mill, Shlohmo, Nicki Minaj, BOOTS, PartyNextDoor and more.
Welcome to Volume Ninety-Seven of Monday Blues & Beats. First off, shout out to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on your Grammy dreams coming true. It was a tough year for picking the winners, I felt as if there were too many artists putting forth their best work. Now to this weeks mix, we have one of the best Ellie Goulding remixes I have ever heard, ScHoolboy Q brand new single, Nikki Jean covering Ab-Soul, and Kendrick Lamar on a Imagine Dragons track?? Let’s get to it
The young emcee from Toronto, Canada is just beginning to make a name for himself. At just 18 years of age, Jahkoy Palmer has worked with the likes of Nipsey Hussle, Jim Jones and producers Statik Selektah and Tha Bizness, as well as opening for Juicy J in Toronto. It’s hard to put a finger on his sound or style, but if I had to draw a comparison; he’s a combination of The Weeknd, PartyNextDoor, Gilbere Forté with a little Dom Kennedy.
