Dr. Dre

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 17

The Silversun Pickups have finished recording their third LP, due next week. The anticipation of this record only heightened when I heard their new single; incredible.
Kendrick Lamar teamed up with Dr. Dre and Scoop DeVille to create a chilled out Hip Hop track worthy of those 5-Star playlists.
Vancouver’s own Japandroids are also working on their third album Celebration Rock via Polyvinyl Records Co. due June 5
Maybach Music Group’s Stalley released his mixtape Savage Journey To The American Dream this week. With the majority of the production done by newcomer Block Beattaz. A very impressive tape from the latest MMG signee. Compared to the rest of his label mates, he has a unique sound and his lyricism goes a little deeper.
Ace Hood dropped his mixtape Starvation, there are a couple download-worthy tracks.
New singles from Childish Gambino, Jai Paul, Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, Nicki Minaj and Best Coast

Throwback Thursday: 1999

Inspired by iTunes shuffling through some gems a few days ago, Throwback Thursday has taken form. It’s always a blast looking through the past; what you jammed to at elementary school dances, the tracks you hid from your parents, the ones that inspired you to stick that Z95.3 sticker on your bumper and everything in between. You may have them hiding in your libraries and just need to dust them off and try again, or you’ve lost them to a overly scratched mix CD, either way enjoy the posts.
First up, 1999. Despite all the pop, it was a strong year in Hip Hop with Dr. Dre’s second LP 2001, Nas’ third, and Jay-Z fourth
