Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 19

Mark Foster (Foster The People) teamed up with Kimbra (featured on Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”) and DJ A-Trak for Converse’s 3 Artists, 1 Song project.

The excitement surrounding a Theophilus London/A$AP Rocky collaboration is hard to contain. Using a Cy Coleman/Dorothy Fields sample circa 1966 made famous in 1967 by Shirley Bassey.

Finally some new material from the New York Indie Hip Hop artist Aesop Rock. It’s been awhile.

Joshua Tillman is a folk singer/songwriter who’s been around the map, literally and figuratively. He’s released 7 solo albums over 4 different record labels. Tillman drummed for the Philadelphia band Saxon Shore from 2001-2004 and Seattle’s Fleet Foxes from 2008-2011. After recording a cassette tape before his 4:30 AM shifts at a Seattle bakery, Damien Jurado heard it, and invited him on tour with him. Now, Josh is recording under the alias Father John Misty for Sub Pop Records, you can find his first single in the mix.

New music from Breakbot, Meek Mill, B.o.B, French Montana

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 12

It has been a phenomenal week of music, especially Hip Hop.
J. Cole released some Soul via his Twitter this week. A sample from David Ruffin circa 1969 “Double Cross,” with some kicks, snares and lyrics that bring Hip Hop back down to earth.
Wiz dropped a free track via Twitter. Gorillaz enlisted 3 Stacks and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) for a promotional track for Limited Edition Chucks. Rihanna and Chris Brown both buried the hatchet and hopped on each other’s remixes. Odd Future released a new single for the upcoming project The Odd Future Tape Vol. 2 due out March 20.
Nicki Minaj silenced the critics about being “soft” with her latest single. I highly doubt Sophia Grace’s mom will let here cover this one.
Santigold dropped a fantastic single this week with great instrumentation and another one of her addictive beats. The upcoming project Master Of My Make-Believe is expected May.
Chilled out productions from Ryan Tedder and Dot Da Genius for Bobby Ray and WizardCud.
