It’s that time of year when the kids head back to school, college orientation sweats kick in, deep breaths before your first day on the job, or it’s just another day on the calendar. Regardless, you can kick off your venture with a fresh mixtape. AHM’s first Back 2 School mixtape features 50 tracks that have been in heavy rotation over the past month. Good luck to all of you, whatever you may be doing, and enjoy.
Jacques Webster aka Travi$ Scott aka La Flame’s countdown for the prequel to his forthcoming album Rodeo is over, here is Days Before Rodeo. The free 12-track project features Rich Homie Quan, Big Sean, Young Thug, The 1975, Peewee Longway, Migos and even a short cameo from Grand Hustle bossman T.I. One undeniable consistency with Scott is his production, which is completely on point with this mixtape. Metro Boomin’ brings the heat on three tracks, up-and-comer WondaGurl makes an appearance, along with Vinylz, Lex Luger, Mike Dean, Southside and more. Being signed to both Kanye (as an in-house producer) and T.I., you can see where both their influences play a role, which if you’re Travi$ Scott, is a pretty nice place to be wedged between.
The boys gave us a peep into their joint EP quite some time ago, but the final product has finally arrived. The 6-track EP features Shlohmo’s dense signature production, accompanied by Jeremih’s lush vocals, making for quite the exceptional recipe.
Terius Nash aka The-Dream aka Radio Killa had a rather busy week. On top of launching his own label Contra Paris with long-time friend and producer Tricky Stewart, he dropped the video for his latest single “Black,” he also dropped this freEP, oh and reportedly got married. Regardless of everything going on, Dream always manages to put out high quality music.
The Arkansas-based produced who goes by axxxxgxxx (AudioGold) has just released his first free-to-download EP. Syrup Funk is just further proof that we have a phenomenal producer in the making. He has quite the ability to hone in that downtempo vibe, and both create from scratch, and transform existing identities without compromising the original composition. If you’re looking for something laid back, that you can vibe out to at night while enjoying your favourite poison, this project is for you.
Slaughterhouse surprises their incredibly dedicated fan base with a 10-track mixtape today. The hip-hop supergroup consisting of Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9″, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz add some fresh elements to their repertoire. We all know these boys constantly bring bars to the table, that’s a given, but their choice of producers and beats gave this project a new spark. Hit the jump for the tracklist, production credits and download.
As previously stated here on AHM, we have mad love and respect for Jordan Asher, aka Boots. After his induction via Beyoncé latest self-titled effort, he didn’t waste much time dropping a solo mixtape. The 16-track project features Shlohmo, Jeremih, Son Lux, Kelela, Margot and the culprit responsible for the introduction; Beyoncé.
