Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 112

Volume 112

This weeks mix happens to feature quite the array of vibes and emotions. With Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here film coming this month, you knew an A+ soundtrack would riding in the sidecar. Coldplay, Cat Power and Bon Iver are just a couple of the artists on board, all of which are featured in this mix. We also have the latest single from Alt-J, Rockie Fresh, B.o.B. and a handful of delectable remixes.

Bon Iver – “Heavenly Father” Zach Braff gets Justin Vernon to write a little jingle for his upcoming film Wish I Was HereThe bearded one’s creativity shines bright through any outlet his touches, and I can only hope this glorious composition will be used at a key point during the film.

Coldplay & Cat Power – “Wish I Was Here” The second pre-order single from the star-studded soundtrack comes in the form of a somewhat unlikely collaboration. UK’s Coldplay co-creates with 42-year old American singer-songwriter-actress-model Chan Marshall aka Cat Power. The mix of nostalgic instrumentation and her rustic vocals make for soundtrack feature of epic proportion

Available on

Wiz Khalifa – “We Dem Boyz (Louis Futon Remix)” Louis Futon does it again! Re-vamping a hip hop track with sleek electronic vibes making it a fit for any lounge worldwide.

Available

Alt-J – “Left Hand Free” The boys from Leeds, England are back for their second helping. The sophomore album This Is All Yours is set to be released September 22, and “Left Hand Free” is the second single, and I keep getting this western, John Wayne bad-ass vibe from it.

Available on

Rockie Fresh – “Official”  It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the young MMG emcee. But when you step back in the ring to drop bars, why not enlist Hit-Boy on the beat right?

Machineheart – “Circles (Vanic Remix)”  Vancouver’s own DJ/Producer who goes by the name Vanic, has created something incredibly special right here. He has taken the original from LA indie poppers Machineheart, and infused one of the most feel-good infectious vibes i’ve heard in quite some time; definitely a summer anthem takeover.

CyHi The Prynce – “Huey (Remix) [feat. Royce Da 5’9 & Joell Ortiz]” Slaughterhouse members Royce and Joell hop on CyHi’s remix and completely rip apart.

Trey Songz – “Foreign (Remix) [feat. Justin Bieber]”  Trey dropped his sixth studio album this past week, and Trigga is slowly becoming my favourite project form the Virginia crooner. I do however think Trey should have saved this remix of “Foreign” as the single instead of the original.

Available on

axxxxgxxx – “Latching (Onto You)” axxxxgxxx dropped a freEP this past week with the very fitting title of Syrup Funk. Here’s one of the standouts from the project, as he reworks Disclosure’s single “Latch, giving it a real dripped out feel. You can grab the full project HERE

B.o.B – Swing My Way (feat. Sevyn Streeter)  Bobby Ray has announced the No Genre 2 mixtape, as he continues to keep freedom in musical repertoire. Let’s see if he can follow up the success of Part 1, so far “Swing My Way” is a good start.

Kid Ink – “Main Chick (Remix) [feat. French Montana, Yo Gotti, Tyga & Lil Bibby]”  The banger from Ink’s album My Own Lane, gets a posse-type remix featuring French, Gottie, Tyga and young blood Lil Bibby.

    1. Hey Aaron, I actually just pre-ordered their new EP. When the track drops in high quality, i’ll either add it to next weeks mix or send it to you.

      Cheers
