Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 111

Volume 111

We’re back with Volume 111 and it is a beauty. Hopefully you all found other places to find and enjoy new tunes over the past month. This weeks mix features a mesmerizing track from a up-and-coming artist that makes his AHM debut. The collection also features a summer anthem from D-WHY,  a fresh cut from the Arts & Crafts camp, some sexy from PND and The Weeknd, Lil Wayne snapping on his latest single, another Sango/Soulection takeover, Mac Miller with ScHoolboy Q, Mobb Deep with Ghostface Killah Usher with Juicy J, Jeezy with Jay Z, and more.

RY X – “Sweat (Demo)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/kuyn4r9kihuqmx1/01%20Sweat%20%28Demo%29.m4a]We kick the mix off with the mysterious Ry Cuming, who goes by RY X, born in Australia and currently hailing from Los Angeles. This is special. As soon as his mouth opens and the words flow out in raw, vulnerable fashion; I guarantee you’ll be hooked. Think José González mixed with a little Justin Vernon, only more piercing. Appreciate my man Bobby B for putting me on to this, this song goes down in history according to my iTunes library.

D-WHY – “Single In The Summer” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/va2zooh2qfmulwx/01%20Single%20In%20The%20Summer.m4a] David Morris aka D-WHY knows all too well how to cook up a summer anthem. “Single In The Summer” features one of the most breezy, nostalgic beats i’ve heard in awhile, producer by MisterNeek. That laced with D’s Cool Hand Luke vocals makes for an addictive recipe that warrants the repeat button.

Jeezy – “Seen It All (feat. Jay Z)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/h0go67s8pr09d9n/01%20Seen%20It%20All%20%28feat.%20Jay%20Z%29.m4a] Jeezy links up with Hova for his latest single and title track from the forthcoming album Seen It All, which is expected September 2nd. It’s automatic heat when these two gentlemen cook it up in the studio together, and Cardo on the beat is a nice bonus.

Sango & Waldo – “SNS” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/glh11f2porsuf0i/01%20SNS.m4a] Fellow Soulection members Sango and Waldo link up for a intoxicating EP. Sango’s beats and creativity in the production realm has always had some down-tempo hip hop flare to it. Waldo being in-house is just a nice bonus. This is track one from the 5-track project, which I highly advise you grab from their Bandcamp

Chris Brown – “New Flame (feat. Usher & Rick Ross)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/pjo8eangwp11bxv/01%20New%20Flame%20%28feat.%20Usher%20%26%20Rick%20Ross%29.m4a] Breezy dropped this single for his long awaited album, which still has yet to receive an official release date. That being said, this joint right here is most definitely a sign of good things to come.

The Kite String Tangle – “Arcadia” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/axdpayztiona5db/01%20Arcadia.m4a] TKST strikes again in stunning fashion. Producer Danny Harley has his 6-track EP called Vessel slated to be released August 12th, and “Arcadia” is the first taste.

The Weeknd – “Often” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ma69l0p0r0yvk2e/01%20Often.m4a] Abel surprised his fans with a fall tour featuring Jhené Aiko & ScHoolboy Q, and then hit us with a new Weeknd staple track. Produced by Ben Billions

PartyNextDoor – “Her Way” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ze2wac4fu0c046d/01%20Her%20Way.m4a] A second Toronto crooner is thrown into this weeks mix, and his name is becoming more and more recognizable. PND never seems to miss, perhaps he’s taking diligent notes from the boss and it’s nothing but hits.

Lowell – “I Love You Money” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/hi8u093ftp934j6/09%20I%20Love%20You%20Money.m4a] Toronto-based record label Arts & Crafts could have the next M.I.A./Santigold on their hands. Lowell is preparing to release her debut album We Loved Her Dearly on September 16th, so keep your ears perked.

Usher – “I Don’t Mind (feat. Juicy J)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/reebinukrz3kd1s/01%20I%20Don_t%20Mind%20%28feat.%20Juicy%20J%29.m4a] Ursher uses Dr. Luke on the keys and Juicy J for the feature to get back to the R&B roots most of us have come to expect from the ATL crooner.

Dpat & Atu – “Nothing Here” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/7d1qwq33aoz7qcw/01%20Nothing%20Here.m4a] Soulection’s very own Dpat & Atu are working on a joint EP, and here’s a teaser of what to expect.

Lil Wayne – “Krazy” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ll8rlxjzlq7nu4v/01%20Krazy.m4a] As Weezy pieces together his 11th and possibly final album, we’re getting hints of an older Lil Wayne style, circa C3 and before. Produced by Infamous

Sango – “AGO (Rvdical Remix)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/cxypn1cgsv7hrus/01%20AGO%20(Rvdical%20Remix).m4a] Rvdical The Kid gives this remix a happy-go-lucky vibe, the soundtrack to your next great night.

Paris Carney – “Astronaut (Holborn Circuit Remix)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/djsgum8y9flz3ty/01%20Astronaut%20(Holborn%20Circuit%20Remix).m4a] The lovely Paris Carney has gained AHM’s attention, in a rather significant way. But the focus here is on Chicago’s Stephen Schmuldt, aka Holborn Circuit. The young producer effortlessly breathes a summer breeze into the original while keeping all the components in sync and running smoothly

Mac Miller – “Melt (feat. ScHoolboy Q)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ta9juvv8xswpct5/01%20Melt%20(feat.%20ScHoolboy%20Q).m4a] To celebrate the one-year anniversary of WMWTSO, Mac drops a freebie featuring Q on the verse and Pete Rock on the beat.

Max Elto – “Shadow of the Sun (Adventure Club Remix)” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/iqs9ysmrqtqz7wy/01%20Shadow%20Of%20The%20Sun%20(Adventure%20Club%20Remix).m4a] The Canadian production duo take on a remix for a Swedish vocal duo, and the result is riveting.

Mobb Deep – “Dirt (Remix) [feat. Ghostface Killah]” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/hwu23rdbjl7p02w/01%20Dirt%20(Remix).m4a] It’s a good day in hip hop when two NY legends link up on a remix. The track has a grungy New York streets kick to it, produced by Illmind.

Kid Ink – “No Flex Zone (Remix) [feat. Travis Porter & Hardhead]” [audio https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/2m10cokvq9rxfh0/01%20No%20Flex%20Zone%20(Remix).m4a] Kid Ink has been in a generous mood lately, as we get another freebie from him. This time he goes in on Rae Sremmurd’s “No Flex Zone” and gets assists from Travis Porter and Hardhead to complete the banger.
