Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 99

Wayne Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky wasn’t the only NHL player to ever wear #99, but undoubtedly the greatest. Welcome to volume ninety-nine of Blues & Beats, this week we have Rozay’s lead single from his upcoming album, a brilliant collaboration between Ingrid Michaelson and Greg Laswell, a previously unreleased track with Flatbush Zombie’s Erick Arc Elliott featuring Bino, and much more so get at it and spread the word.

Stonefox – “All I Want”

My boy @BobbyBolivia comes through with another song suggestion that has seen the likes of my repeat button since first listen. I’m sure someone once said; there’s beauty in simplicity. Stonefox is a band in their fetal stage of life and have already touched on something extremely special.

Erick Arc Elliott – “God Save the Villain (feat. Childish Gambino)”

For whatever reason, Mr. Elliott was sitting on this clever daze of track for almost two years, but it’s here now, and i’m sure I don’t speak just for myself that i’m grateful it is.

Rick Ross – “War Ready (feat. Young Jeezy)”

Ross and Jeezy squashed their beef and put in some serious work over this Mike Will banger. Officer Ricky announced his A-List feature and production list for the upcoming album Mastermind – coming March 4

Pre-Order on

Mas Ysa – “Shame”

I just stumbled upon Mas Ysa (pronounced MAAS ee-sa) last night, and all I can say is where have I been. Thomas Arsenault is a nomadic producer/composer/musical genius, who combines the likes of electro, pop, chillwave and composes brilliance.

Available on

Eric Bellinger – “9 Lives (feat. Too $hort & Ty Dolla $ign)”

The R&B sensation enlists a couple of money emcees for his League of Starz beat.

Ingrid Michaelson – “Wonderful Unknown (feat. Greg Laswell)”

When Michaelson and Laswell step into the booth at the same time, I can only assume something magical happens. Ingrid has her new album Lights Out coming April 14 via Mom + Pop records.

Pre-Order on

Rico Love – “They Don’t Know (feat. Ludacris, Trey Songz, Tiara Thomas, T.I. & Emjay) [Remix]”

Another R&B sensation who goes by the name Rico Love grabs a handful of rappers for the remix of his highly addictive self-produced single. And is just me, or did Luda actually kill this?

Available on

Giraffage – “I Luv Your Girl”

Speaking of R&B, San Francisco native Charlie Yin aka Giraffage did an entire remix EP of The-Dream joints. You can check out the full project HERE

Wale – “Clappers (Remix) [feat. Rick Ross, Fat Trel & Young Thug]”

Not only did Wale call up his boss and a couple up-and-comers for verses, but he got Hit-Boy on the beat.

Urban Noize – “Too Much (feat. Sampha) [Urban Noize Remix]”

As if Drizzy’s “Too Much” wasn’t smooth enough already, but Urban Noize gave it that sexy old school R&B vibe.

M.O.P. – “Street Certified (feat. Mobb Deep)”

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the Brooklyn duo, and what better way to step back in then with a true O.G. on the feature.

Available on

Tree – “More Than You Know”

The rookie emcee from Chi-Town absolutely killed it with this husky, soulful gem. Produced by Thelonius Martin

ScHoolboy Q – “Man of the Year (MAV Remix)”

Matthew Valich of Boston aka Mavarick gives Q’s street banger a beautiful spacey underlying feel.

Jared Evan – “Pulp Fiction (feat. Skyzoo)”

Mr. Evan pays tribute to Tarantino’s classic “Pulp Fiction,” and included multiple references. Produced by !llmind

The Freshest – “Buggin’ (Kutcorners & Marvel Canadian Club Edit)”

Last week we had a solo track from Kutconers, this week a joint effort from the Vancouver boys. Their play on this Ginuwine & Aaliyah classic is ready for the clubs.

Theophilus London – “Take A Look”

London channels his inner Interpol/Bloc Party for his latest track.
