Good morning and welcome to Monday Blues & Beats, it’s time to update those libraries. This week on the docket we have new music from The Killers, Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, JMSN, Logic, Beck, The Field and much more. Hit the jump to start listening,
The Killers – Shot At The Night
The Las Vegas boys are releasing a greatest hits collection called Direct Hits, which comes complete with two new songs. This being one of the two, has that perfect Killers vibe to it, produced by M83.
Justin Timberlake – TKO
With the release of 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 looming, Justin lets go of this high-energy number produced by the usual suspects; Timbaland & J-Roc.
Logic – Two Kings (feat. King Chip)
The young spitter who signed with Def Jam earlier this year recruits one of Cleveland’s multi-talented artists King Chip for a verse and C-Sick for the nostalgic beat.
Jhené Aiko – Bed Peace (feat. Childish Gambino)
The uniquely beautiful Jhené Aiko gets a laid back verse from Bino for this sulty love jam.
Beck – Gimme
Beck is finally back to work on the follow up of 2008’s Modern Guilt. Early in the summer he mentioned two albums that were en route, so let’s hope this gets the ball rolling.
JMSN – Walk Away
Jameson is planning to follow up the stunning debut †Priscilla† with an upcoming EP †Pllaje† accompanied by a US Tour.
Isaiah Rashad – Shot You Down
It’s not everyday we get rappers from Tennessee, more specicially from Chattanooga, but here’s Isaiah Rashad. Word on the street is TDE is interested in signing the 21-year old, and with a flow like this, the puzzle piece fits with KDot and company.
James Blake – Life Round Here (Remix) [feat. Chance The Rapper]
Whoever had the idea to throw Chance’s flow and oddities over Blake’s disturbed instrumental is a genius.
Passion Pit – Constant Conversations (Noah Breakfast Remix) [feat. Juicy J]
I know we’ve posted a handful of Passion Pit remixes and you might be tired of hearing them, but this right here is gold. Noah Breakfast aka Xaphoon Jones (Chiddy Bang) had been sitting on this remix for some time until Passion Pit heard it, loved it, and sent Juicy J’s verse over to combine remixes. This easily takes the cake for P Pit Remixes.
The Field – Cupid’s Head
It feels like forever since we’ve heard from the Swedish DJ/Producer. His highly intricate and micro-sample infused music is the epitome of a night-drive soundtrack. The LP Cupid’s Head drops next week.
Laura Mvula – She (Shlohmo Remix)
The British soul singer has had the privilege of Shlohmo remixing one of her tracks. He keeps the original emotions intact but blends them with his own brand of ominous passion.
Imagine Dragons – Monster
The Dragons have recorded a new track for the Infinity Blade III soundtrack, apparently they’re big gamers themselves.
Birdy – No Angel
The ‘covering’ sensation is back for a second LP, only this time around it’s all original material. As phenomenal as her covers are, this album will definitely test her as an all-round artist.
Peter Gabriel – Games Without Frontiers (feat. Arcade Fire)
The Montréal indie rockers lend a helping hand for Peter Gabriel’s upcoming tribute compilation. The album will also feature the links of Bon Iver, Regina Spektor, Brian Eno, Paul Simon, Feist and more. It comes out tomorrow
Jennifer Hudson – I Can’t Describe (feat. T.I.)
Ms. Hudson has enlisted TIP for a verse and Pharrell on the beat for what I can only assume is intended for an upcoming album. There’s a nice 90s vibe to this song.
High Highs – A Real Hero
The up-and-coming indie pop group from Australia have covered College & Electric Youth’s “A Real Hero” from the critically aclaimed Drive soundtrack.
Jae Millz – Rowdy (feat. Iamsu!)
Not usually a Millz fan, but with Iamsu! on it I had to give it a listen. Profound level is minimal, banger level on the other hand, to the ceiling.
Talking Heads – Once In A Lifetime (Gigamesh Remix)
Gigamesh takes one of the originators of ‘Indie Rock’ and infuses it with a whole lot of funk.
