Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 79

Teen Daze

Happy Monday morning to everyone, hope the weekend was good to you. Start the week of with some new tunes courtesy of Blues & Beats Volume 79. If you’ve followed for awhile, you’ll know AHM always has love for Teen Daze and Gilbere Forté, well this past week the two of them brought the heat (separately). We also have fresh ones from Stalley, London Grammar, Majid Jordan, DIANA and more.

PS. Once again, i’ve gone with a new design, and this has to be my favourite thus far, what do you think?

UPDATE: Added Big Sean’s historic joint featuring Kendrick and Jay Elec

Big Sean – Control (HOF) [feat. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica]

Out of nowhere, Big Sean drops a bomb on the Hip Hop world. Due to sampling issues, the track won’t make it on to the album, so why not give it away for free?? Sean, Kendrick, Jay Elec and No I.D…..greatness, 7 minutes of it to be exact. No Tags/Dirty Version. Pre-Order Hall of Fame

Teen Daze – Ice On The Windowsill

Float away on a fluffy white cloud through blue skies to this jam right here. The B.C. native is set for his new album Glacier, coming October 1.

Still Life Still – In Enemies (Teen Daze Remix)

The second instalment from Teen Daze comes in the form of a remix of fellow Canadian musicians Still Life Still’s latest single from their upcoming sophomore album.

The Freshest – FWM

The Freshest is a four-man team hailing from my hometown, Vancouver B.C. Finding new music comes in many forms, but by far my favourite is still word of mouth. They take Jay’s “Fuckwitmeyouknowigotit” and turn the hype level way up, with going overboard – it’s impressive. It reminds me of Steve Aoki on Cudi’s “Pursuit Of Happiness,” where it sits on the cusp but never goes beyond to point of no return. Follow these guys on Twitter or check out their Soundcloud

Lorde – Royals (Raak Remix) [feat. Gilbere Forté]

Gilbere Forté has been rather busy of late, hopping on three tracks outside his usual genre scheme. His go-to producer Raak adds to the instrumental as Forté delivers.

Nylo – Nobody Has To Know (feat. Gilbere Forté)

The Chi-town lady recruited Forté for her new project Indigo Summerwhich you can download via the link. Produced by Tricky Stewart

Banks – Waiting Game (Raak Remix) [feat. Gilbere Forté]

Banks has been making quite the name for herself of late, and what’s another solid remix? Raak pulls off more instrumental tweaking without compromising the original.

London Grammar – Feelings

Hannah Reid and company are back with a stunning ballad. Their debut album If You Wait is due out September 9.

London Grammar – Wasting My Young Years (Sound Remedy Remix)

Sound Remedy has pulled off yet another gorgeous remix, their blend of sultry and aggressive on this number is perfect. Check out their Soundcloud for more.

Juicy J – Ain’t No Comin’ Down (feat. T.I.)

Juicy J hits us with another freebie before the big release of Stay Trippy (Aug. 27). This falls close to the top for me as far as JJ joints go.

Majid Jordan – Give Me A Reason (For Lovin’ You)

After being featured on Drake’s single last week, the Toronto duo have released their debut track on the OVO label. This dream pop, chillwave sound has taken flight over the last couple years, might as well join it, and add R&B vocals.

Kid Ink – Bossin’ Up (Remix) [feat. Young Jeezy & YG]

Ink replaces French Ferg with Jeezy and YG, making for a summer anthem remix worth bumping at your BBQ. Produced by Lifted

DIANA – Perpetual Surrender (Four Tet Remix)

Four Tet always has something special up his sleeve, this time he delivers for the four-piece from Toronto with a remix of their title track single – album drops August 20.

Stalley – NineteenEighty7 (feat. ScHoolboy Q)

Stalley returns with a brand new mixtape Honest Cowboy, this been more on the aggressive side, with a smooth burner from Terrace Martin.

Rapsody – Never Know (feat. Nipsey Hussle, Ab-Soul & Terrace Martin)

Another star-studded joint from Rapsody off her upcoming mixtape She Got Game, which comes out August 20. Produced by 9th Wonder.

HAIM – Strong Enough (Sheryl Crow Cover)

The sisters stepped in to Australia’s Triple J’s studio to perform a Sheryl Crow cover. Their long-awaited debut album is finally set for September 30 – Pre-Order Available

Kirko Bangz – I Got A Friend (feat. Nipsey Hussle)

Kirko dropped his Progression III mixtape today, this joint feature a verse from Nipsey and a beat from Sound Mob. Check out the whole tape HERE

Nipsey Hussle – Change Nothing

Nipsey has graced us with another free track. Victory Lap should be receiving a release date very soon.

  1. I feel stupid today lol. I skipped over the Big Sean song because I don’t like him – not paying attention that Kendrick is on the joint. My homegirl that’s a pure hip hop head sent me the link to the song this morning… and I’m like fuck wait – this was on AHM on Monday and I spent 24hrs. missing out on the best song of the year. This is CLASSIC!!!

    1. HAHAHA! It happens my man. Love what Kendrick did here, all emcees think it when they step into the booth. Kobe doesn’t hit the court hoping Lebron takes him to school.

  2. Yeah true… But this is even more than that. He just sparked something. He’s calling everyone to step their game up and he’s right.
