Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 78

Frankie Rose - Sorrow

Good evening and welcome to Volume 78, hope y’all enjoyed your long weekend. If you didn’t get a chance, catch up on some reading with the recent album reviews, and let me know what you thought of the summer releases. This week, we have fresh material from HAIM, Drake, 2 Chainz, Banks, Frankie Rose, Bishop Lamont and more – let’s get to it!

Drake – All Me (feat. Big Sean & 2 Chainz)

Drake’s latest single includes two heavy hitters and a production from Key Wane. The beat was originally intended for Big Sean, but as things go sometimes, sharing is caring.

HAIM – The Wire

I’m still waiting on my pre-order to magically come through for this album, but a new single will have to do. The sisters have put together a fun jam for the conclusion of summer. Available on iTunes

Drake – Hold On, We’re Going Home (feat. Majid Jordan)

UPDATE: An official single from NWTS surfaced a couple hours ago, figured it wasn’t too late to add it. Drizzy displays his diversity well this week with two very different tracks – produced by Majid Jordan, Nineteen85 & 40. Available on iTunes

Frankie Rose – Sorrow

The Brooklyn vocalist is working on her second solo LP, and if this is any indication of what the project will sound like, we’re in for a treat.

Chevy Woods – Wit It

A new banger from the Taylor Gang emcee, Cardo delivering the beat.

Curren$y – Ox

The second Cardo beat in the mix is of the slow-rolling variety, perfect for Spitta.

Banks – Waiting Game

We’ve posted Banks’ “Warm Water” and the remix, but her new single displays her diversity beautifully.

2 Chainz – Where U Been (feat. Cap 1)

2 Chainz links up with fellow Georgia-based rapper Cap 1 for his latest single. Produced by Mike Will

Cut Copy – Let Me Show You

It’s been over two and a half years since we’ve heard from these gentlemen, but clearly time hasn’t disrupted their talent or energy.

Bishop Lamont – I Got Barz

The Cali rapper is still attempting to drop his debut album, hopefully this gets the ball rolling.

Omen – Undercover

The Dreamville emcee/producers enlists big boss Cole to producer this one.

Juicy J – August 27th Flow

Juicy drops this freebie to promote the release date of his comeback album Stay Trippy, which will be competing hard that day.

  1. Thanks for this!
Quick question, are you using a new method or something to include the cover art? It used to be displayed correctly when I uploaded it to my Google music, but since Vol 76 the cover art doesn’t display.

It could be that it is Google music fault but I’m just wondering if you changed anything since then.

Anyway, thanks for your music, greatly appreciate it each week.

Thoughts?
