Hits Since ’87 Inc. is a group of artists and producers brought together by Chauncey Hollis, aka Hit-Boy. Based out of California, these boys are starting to make quite the name for themselves. With the recent release of their first compilation record, All I’ve Ever Dreamed Of, I figured it was time to write about them. You can read all about Hit-Boy here, for the rest of the group, hit the jump.
Kevin Roosevelt, Los Angeles, a producer that isn’t afraid to express his incredibly unique vocals. He began drumming at Musicians Institute, started playing around with the keys, and the rest is history.
He produced 5 tracks on Skeme’s Alive & Living including “I Remember (feat. Bryan Roberts & Kendrick Lamar).” K also found himself on Game’s Jesus Piece in both categories, crafting up the catchy beat for “Church,” and dropping a heartfelt hook on “Can’t Get Right.” Roosevelt has also worked with BJ The Chicago Kid, H.O.P.E., Overdoz and Jhené Aiko. Kevin started 2013 off with a bang by dropping a 9-track FreEP called RoseGold. It features his versatility, both in and outside the both, as he handled the entire production. Mibbs (of PACDIV) and Hit-Boy were the only two features, and The Futuristiks and Hit-Boy helped out on a couple beats.

Kent Aboko, a rapper and writer from Norfold Virginia. He began rapping at a young age, but it wasn’t until a short stint in prison that Aboko became serious about the Hip Hop business.
In 2010 he released his debut project Becoming under the Surf Club umbrella. With guests like Ty$, Hit-Boy, Frank Ocean, Big K.R.I.T., and incredible production value, the album garnered positive reviews. Although his alignment with Surf Club (which Hit-Boy is also apart of) was still intact, he joined forces with Hit-Boy’s personal label HS87 in 2012. Kent’s ability to write is prominent, and Hit sees that. KM co-wrote “Jay-Z Interview” and “Option” for Hit-Boy’s debut project HITStory. Look out for his sophomore project Eyes Wide Shut, coming this year.
“God Bless” is off the upcoming project Eyes Wide Shut – produced by Hit-Boy.
Oktane (Julian Brown) and Pricetag (LJ) of Inland Empire, a Hip-Hop duo. They began with a Soulja Boy type situation by teaching us how to “Jerk.” Despite the initial “pop-infused” mainstream success, these two youngins can throw down.
In 2009, they were signed to Interscope Records to play with the big dogs. “Teach Me How To Jerk” sold a few hundred thousand copies, but the stint with the majors didn’t last long. Regardless, the boys worked on promoting themselves through the outlets available to those without massive marketing budgets. 2012 rolls around, and Audio Push finds themselves aligning with Hit-Boy and his HS87 label. Their success is due to the fact they aren’t a one-lane highway, Oktane and Pricetag are open to the bangers, anthems, slow jams, and anything in between, which are all found on their latest mixtape Truth Be Told.

As of now, Hits Since ’87 Inc has aligned with Interscope Records. All I’ve Ever Dreamed Of is their first compilation project, and clearly a sign of good things to come.
