Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 51

Vol. 51

Welcome to Monday Blues & Beats, if you’re new, we recap the previous weeks best music and compile it here. This week, Ryan Hemsworth did something incredibly special to Mikky Ekko’s latest single, Game dropped two more dope tracks, Big Boi reveals another unique collaboration, as well as new material from Alt-J, Wayne, Rozay, Goldroom and more.

Mikky Ekko – Pull Me Down (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

I’ve posted Hemsworth remixes before, but this collaboration is unreal. Mikky Ekko is starting to make a name for himself, and being a feature on RiRi’s record probably helped. The original track was co-produced by Clams Casino, that mixed with Ryan’s intensely smooth alteration makes for a gorgeous, addicting combination.

Big Boi – She Hates Me (feat. Kid Cudi)

Besides the stupid beef 3 Stacks, his new record has been making a lot of noise, and here’s why, The previous single saw Phantogram and A$AP Rocky on a track together, now Sir Lucious L. Leftfoot has teamed up with Cudder for a deep joint. Pre-Order Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors on Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (Booklet Version) - Big Boi

Game – Judas Closet (feat. Nipsey Hussle)

Along with free tracks on Sunday as part of “SundayService,” Game dropped this gem as a one-time “BirthdayService.” Fellow West Coaster Nipsey hops on this banger from Timbaland (that’s right, banger from Timbaland), hopefully Game’s rejuvenation will spark Timbo’s keys.

Game – Rollin (feat. Kanye West, Trae Tha Truth, Z-Ro, Paul Wall & Slim Thug)

This serves as SundayService No. 6, and it’s quite the eclectic mix of characters. Produced by Kanye West and Cool & Dre. Pre-Order Jesus Piece on Jesus Piece (Deluxe) - Game

Goldroom – Sweetness Alive (feat. SLL)

Another fun, bubbly single from Goldroom, aka Josh Legg from Los Angeles. It features groovy, dreamwave vocals from the beautiful duo Saint Lou Lou. Get the single on Sweetness Alive (feat. S L L) - Single - Goldroom

Juicy J – Show Out (feat. Young Jeezy & Big Sean)

This is classic trap music right here, with the exception of Sean’s verse. Produced by Mike Will

Rick Ross – 100 Black Coffins

Off Tarantino’s Django Unchained soundtrack, definitely a unorthodox production from Jamie Foxx, but the cinematic vibe works.

Alt-J – Fitzpleasure (BetaTraxx Remix)

BetaTraxx takes the dreamy sound and pumps it with adrenaline. The track would feel right at home in a Matrix or Tron soundtrack.

Raekwon – 86 (feat. Altrina Renee)

Wu’s Raekwon isn’t sleeping after the release of Wu Block. This joint has that nice old school vibe to it, both beat and flow.

Lil Wayne – Awkward

Just when I thought Wayne’s verses were finding some more depth, he does this. But while the lyrics are lacklustre, the beat from Jahlil Beats and Key Wane is too good to pass up.

Tyga – ’95 Like Dat

The young Young Money rapper released yet another weak mixtape (187), this was the only acceptable track.

  1. Tyga sampling LL’s classic track from ’95 (hence the title)! I am dying right now. I was a wee little pup back then – Africa loves LL! Keep up the good work my tall friend.
