Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 38

Happy Labor Day Monday to everyone, hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend.

I apologize for the lack of posts last week, I was enjoying a week off in New York. But fear not, I landed just in time to catch up on a lot of great tunes, and throw together this week’s mix.

The A$AP Mob dropped their compilation tape, Lil Wayne hit us with Dedication 4, Mac Miller let go of three joints and Ben Gibbard released his first official solo single. Also, new material from Ryan Leslie, Talib Kweli, OneRepublic, Alicia Keys/Nicki Minaj, Generationals, Lloyd/Wale and more.

Side A

A$AP Mob – Y.N.R.E

The first compilation project from the A$AP Crew dropped, if you’re looking for diverse beats, chopped & screwed flow, and some grungy lyrics; click the album cover on the right. A$AP Twelvyy on this one with AraabMuzik crafting another banging beat.

A$AP Mob – Underground Killa$ (feat. Raekwon)

Rocky and Ferg on this joint with Wu’s Raekwon, and Benson Graves on the beat.

Alicia Keys – Girl On Fire (Inferno Remix) [feat. Nicki Minaj]

Alicia has Nicki spit a couple well thought out verses over this beatiful Salaam Remi beat.

Lil Wayne – Green Ranger (feat. J. Cole)

Dedication 4 out now. Tune hooks up with Roc Nation’s Cole for this standout track off the tape.

Lil Wayne – No Worries (feat. Detail)

Another one from the tape, featuring Detail on the beat and hook.

Casey Veggies – Summer, I Suppose

Speaking of funk and the ending of summer, Casey released this free track via Twitter.

Skeme – Kidz With Gunz (feat. ScHoolboy Q)

Skeme gets Black Hippy’s Q on this THC beat and it fits perfectly.

Mac Miller – First Day Of My Life

Mac showing some diversity by covering a Bright Eyes track circa 2005.

Mac Miller – PlaneCarBoat (feat. ScHoolboy Q)

MM enlists Black Hippy’s ScHoolboy Q for this laid back joint with an infectious hook. Produced by Larry Dollaz.

Talib Kweli – Fly Away (feat. Jessica Care Moore)

This is the second release from the upcoming project Attack The Block, with Crada working behind the scenes.

Trae The Truth – Tell Me That I Can’t (feat. Meek Mill)

Off Trae’s free tape The Blackprint, Meek does the usual; spits mad fire. Cardiak on the beat.

Kent Money – God Bless

Following the success of his debut album Becoming, Kent is back at it. Eyes Wide Shut drops this fall, and here’s the first taste featuring a Hit-Boy production. Kent Money has aligned himself with Hit-Boy’s HS87 venture and started by co-writing “Jay-Z Interview” and “Options.”

Lloyd – All Of Me (feat. Wale)

Lloyd hooks up with Wale and Cassius Jay for this slow jam.

Ryan Leslie – Winning

R. Les said he would release a track when he reached 250,000 fans on his TwitMusic Page, and as promised, here it is.

Main Attraktionz – Do It For The Bay (feat. DaVinci)

The Cali duo is ready for their second project, enlisting Harry Fraud for the keys.

Side B

Generationals – Lucky Numbers

The New Orleans duo has a EP by the same name coming out October 2nd. For now, enjoy this funky synth bliss while we still have some summer left.

Ben Gibbard – Teardrop Windows

Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, All-Time Quarterback, Pinwheel, split projects and now finally, an official solo LP from Benjamin Gibbard. Former Lives is set for October 16.

Madeon – The City

The French electropop producer has released yet another highly addictive single. At just 18 years of age, he’s gained quite a following.

OneRepublic – Feel Again

It’s been three years since we’ve heard from Ryan Tedder and his crew. Tedder is often out and about producing for a wide range of artists.

Alison Valentine – Peanut Butter (Moon Boots Remix)

From celebrity astronaut footwear to turntables, Moon Boots gives Alison’s track named after my favourite spread a dreamy finish.

Plaided – Freaks And Geeks

This Austrian duo have released their first LP titled Playdate, which is a word they often use to describe how and why they make music.

Divine Fits – That Would Be Nice

The LA-based Merge Records indie rockers give us a distorted old-school vibe.
