Happy Monday to you all, it was an incredibly productive week in the music industry.
Lana Del Rey showed us she’s not quite finished with Born To Die with an upcoming special edition on it’s way. Jump to those downloads.
G.O.O.D. Music’s Hit-Boy dropped his highly-anticipated rap project, where he spits and produces some addictive gems.
New singles from The xx, Kid Cudi, Ellie Goulding, Khaled, Mumford & Sons, Wild Nothing, 2 Chainz and more.
This is the second single from the upcoming sophomore record Coexist, which is set for September 11.
Ellie Goulding – Anything Could Happen
The 25-year old UK indie pop princess is back with a blazing single. Her second LP Halcyon is set for October 8. For her sake, let’s hope Adele doesn’t decide she wants to drop a record anytime soon.
Hit-Boy, the producer turned rapper dropped his first tape where he raps on 11 tracks. If you haven’t already, I highly advise you download the entire record (located on the right side-bar). It was nearly impossible, but I picked a couple favourites to throw in the mix.
Hit-Boy – Running In Place (feat. Stacy Barthe)
Both tracks produced by Hit-Boy.
DJ Khaled – Hip-Hop (feat. Scarface, Nas & DJ Premier)
Kiss The Ring is the only Khaled album i’ve ever been moderately excited about. I saw the features/producers last week and they are top notch. This joint was produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and features scratching from Premier over the infamous “DJ Khaled!!” The beat is reminiscent of Gang Starr (Guru/Premo) distorted bass line.
Kid Cudi – Just What I Am (feat. King Chip)
Cudder back on his grind, working on the upcoming project Indicud which will feature Kanye, Pusha, Kendrick and longtime collaborator Chip Tha Ripper (King Chip).
The British folk-rock band has a second LP on the way, Babel is due September 24. Nothing too new or refreshing here, but why fix what’s not broken?
The 27-year old Kansas rapper has impressed me this year, and once again he’s shown further improvement. Following the Popular Culture tape, he dropped this joint a couple days ago. Produced by The Awesome Sound.
Jack Tatum, the solo Virginia dream pop act is back at it for a second LP via Captured Tracks. “Paradise” is the first taste, and the album drops in two weeks, August 28.
Feist – Graveyard (TRUST Remix)
Arts & Crafts gave away this remix for free this morning. TRST (Trust) infuses the track with a new atmosphere.
2 Chainz – Yuck (feat. Lil Wayne)
2 Chainz, formerly known as Tity Boi keeps the promo tracks going. He dropped two this week, both featuring Young Money talent, one of which I wasn’t too fond of. This one however; bangs. Produced by Streetrunner, featuring Weezy minus the YMCMB shout-outs…weird but refreshing.
Guy Sebastian – Battle Scars (feat. Lupe Fiasco)
I’ll admit, the only draw to this track was Lupe, but I was in for a decent surprise. As far as pop tracks go, this one has a smooth beat and a good theme.
Another classic beat from Pharrell for the upcoming joint project between Mac and Skateboard P.
The California group hook up with fellow West Coast producer Scoop DeVille for this one.
Man… That Khaled joint is FIIIIIIIIRRRREEEE!!! Scarface and Nas always kill it together and that beat. Whoa!!!!! Then they dropped the overdose hit with Premier scratching.
“…wasn’t trying to claim her to myself, she’s yours! You can have her she’s a mother fuckin’ whore! I fuck hip hop!”
That Guy Sebastian with Lupe joint is hot too, and so is that The XX track… Thanks for posting these man! Keep it up!
I agree completely! Nas suits the beat perfectly and absolutely murders it. And I can’t wait for The xx record to drop, I definitely smell a review happening. Thanks again for the support.
Hey! I really like the songs and i look forward to mondays blues and beats every week. I have one thing though. Why isnt Lupe Fiasco’s new song Lamborghini Angels on here?
Thank you! I believe it officially drops today, so it will be at the top of next week’s mix for sure.
dude i’ve been following you for months now, and i live for the Monday Blues & Beats,
keep it up…..
Jimmy (Sydney, AU)
