Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 30

It’s Monday July 9th, 2012, and summer is here.

I am incredibly happy to announce Bloc Party is back in the lab, and have signed a distribution deal with one of my favourite labels, Arts & Crafts.

Frank O isn’t slowing down with the Channel Orange movement, he hooked up with Pharrell for the latest single.

It feels like forever since we’ve heard from the charismatic, carefree couple Matt & Kim.

Childish Gambino released his much anticipated Royalty mixtape and it does not disappoint. I highly advise you download the whole tape.

Bloc Party – Octopus

Finally Kele and company have dropped a single for their upcoming LP Four, coming August 21.

Frank Ocean – Sweet Life

Channel Orange drops July 17, so get those iTunes accounts ready. Produced by Pharrell.

Matt & Kim – Let’s Go

The Brooklyn indie rockers are set to drop the new record this fall, titled Lightning.

Childish Gambino – It May Be Glamour Life (feat. Ghostface Killah)

Bino enlists two Wu members for the tape, on this joint Killah delivers over a dreamy beat from Myke Murda.

Childish Gambino – Wonderful (feat. Josh Osho)

This track’s feature could easily be mistaken for John Legend. Boi-1da does a little something different on this beat.

Nas – Reach Out (feat. Mary J. Blige)

Nas is turning the hype around Life Is Good into facts. It seems every single is getting better and better. Produced by Salaam Remi & Darkchild.

Dusty McFly – I’m Out Here (Remix) [feat. Big Sean & Dom Kennedy]

The Detroit rapper enlists his fellow Michigan-native, and laid back West Coast emcee Dom.

Jessie Ware – Wildest Moments (Star Slinger Remix)

Another beautiful electronic remix from the UK DJ/Producer. This time around he plays around with his fellow UK artists’ latest single.

John Legend – Tonight (Best You Ever Had) [Remix] {feat. Pusha T}

Originally on the Think Like A Man soundtrack, on the remix, Pusha replaces Ludacris. Produced by Phatboi Productions.

Pet Shop Boys – Winner

The English electronic duo that’s been making your feet move since 1986 is still cooking up the jams. Elysium is set for this fall.

Markay- Rise Up

Local Vancouver artist doing his thing. Produced/Written by Markay

50 Cent – Can I Speak To You (feat. ScHoolboy Q)

This is one of the better tracks i’ve heard from 50 in awhile. Produced by DJ Pain 1.

WHY? – Sod In The Seed

The Berkeley Alternative Hip Hop/Indie Rock group has released their self-titled single to the upcoming EP set for August 13. Their sound and flow is so unique, it’s hard to put a finger on it.

Curren$y – Jet Life (Remix) [feat. Young Jeezy & Lil Wayne]

Big K.R.I.T. and Wiz get replaced by the veterans for the remix. Produced by Big K.R.I.T.

  1. I’ve been following your blog since a friend of mine sent me here to listen to Lupe’s T.R.O.Y. remix… She hates the song – I think it’s dope. But that’s not my point. I love your site, you keep featuring the hottest shit! Not just hip hop either, you put me on to some hot music in other genres. Keep it up man!

    1. Thank you! Really appreciate the support. It started as a class project and I just stuck to it. I’m glad to introduce new stuff, fresh tunes are a necessity.
