Ryan Hemsworth – “Still Awake”

Ryan Hemsworth - Still Awake

As you probably know by now, AHM shows Ryan Hemsworth a whole lot of love, because it’s due. So naturally, when the Halifax native releases a free project, he gets his own post. Still Awake features 7 tracks, six of which are original compositions, with one remix included. Hemsworth paints to most vivid of soundscapes full of dreams, clear skies, fluffy clouds, sunsets, and anything else that comes to mind in relation to complete bliss. So hop in that cruiser for a night drive, plug in those headphones for that cram session or gaze at the stars and press play on Still Awake.  If you happen to be sleeping on this gentleman, wake up!

Gilbere Forté – “PRAY”

Gilbere Forte - PRAY

Gilbere Forté was born in Michigan, moved to Chicago and ended up in Philadelphia. The common denominator in each of these places; Hip Hop.

Forté has slowly but surely made a name for himself in the industry. After being signed to a dead-end record deal, he worked his way out of it with determination. He had a stint in Paris along side DJ Bob Sinclar on tour and in the studio. Since returned, Gilbere intends to release a independent short-film called PRAY, and this mixtape serves as the soundtrack. Most of the production was handled by right-hand man Raak, and only a few features, two of which come from Active Child (aka Pat Grossi).

The Weeknd - Kiss Land

Good evening and welcome to Blues & Beats Volume 72, I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend (for us Canadians). If you missed it, there were giant Kanye faces projected on buildings around the world this weekend to promote his brand new single. Unfortunately the track didn’t surface today, but we do have new material from The Weeknd, The Dodos, Banks, D-WHY, Hit-Boy, Gilbere Forté, Mayer Hawthorne, Nipsey Hussle and much more.

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 71

Say Lou Lou

Welcome to Monday Blues & Beats Volume 71, hope y’all enjoyed Mother’s Day Weekend. The unintentional but reoccurring theme this week seemed to be “Underrated.” Today’s mix has some music from the ignored, misunderstood, ill-timed or just those that don’t quite receive the credit they deserve. Regardless, all of them have clearly struck a nerve over here at ahealthymedium. Enjoy.

J. Cole – “Truly Yours 2″

Truly Yours 2

One day after J. Cole let go of “Cole Summer,” he surprised us with Truly Yours 2. This is the follow up to part one, which dropped back in February. After multiple delays on Cole’s sophomore effort, he holds us over with free music (no complaints here). If the album isn’t ready, or doesn’t feel right, do not release it. That being said, the Roc Nation protege has set June 25th as the release date for Born Sinner.

The EP features 2 Chainz, Young Jeezy, Bas and production from Canei Finch, Jake One and Ron Gilmore.

Monday Blues & Beats Vol. 68

Daft Punk - Get Lucky

Good morning and Happy Tuesday to all of you. I took a short trip to Alberta to visit the FamJam over there, so I caught up on a week of music in a few hours last night. What a week! The Great Gatsby soundtrack information surfaced along with a single from Ms. Del Rey, and a couple snippets from the Carter family. Daft Punk and Pharrell’s mysterious single has finally surfaced in all its electronic glory. DJ Khaled links up with the usual suspects for another anthem. New stuff from Ryan Hemsworth, Disclosure, Drake, The Neighbourhood, London Grammar and lots more.
