Good morning and Happy Tuesday to all of you. I took a short trip to Alberta to visit the FamJam over there, so I caught up on a week of music in a few hours last night. What a week! The Great Gatsby soundtrack information surfaced along with a single from Ms. Del Rey, and a couple snippets from the Carter family. Daft Punk and Pharrell’s mysterious single has finally surfaced in all its electronic glory. DJ Khaled links up with the usual suspects for another anthem. New stuff from Ryan Hemsworth, Disclosure, Drake, The Neighbourhood, London Grammar and lots more.
Good morning and welcome to Volume 67 of Monday Blues & Beats brought to you by ahealthymedium. This past week Jay-Z was in the studio cooking up a new jam, Empire Of The Sun has resurfaced, Big K.R.I.T. dropped another mixtape, Poliça sets up for a new record and much more.
Justin Scott, aka Big K.R.I.T. hails from Mississippi and represents the South with great esteem. Today, the 26 year old dropped his eleventh mixtape, simply but elegantly titled K.R.I.T. (King Remembered In Time). The tape is entirely produced by KRIT himself, except for one guest appearance from the legendary 9th Wonder. Scott can spit bars for days but enlisted DZA and Wiz for a smoked out chill ride, Bun B for a southern anthem, BJ The Chicago Kid for some storytelling, Trinidad James for a banger, the beautiful Ashton Jones for a soulful love joint, Big Sant for some jabs and a snippet of the Future induced hook. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, Big K.R.I.T. is one of those underrated artists in Hip Hop, the man can spit, story tell, carry a track and produce all day.
“Power Trip” is the first official taste of Cole’s sophomore album, and tonight the visuals surfaced. I’m happy to say, the video was not what I was expecting. Jermaine throws in a heavy storyline with a twist. Born Sinner drops June 25.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Volume Sixty-Six of Monday Blues & Beats and what has been a voluptuous week of music. Spent the weekend down in Portland, had a few donuts, caught a Trail Blazers game but now it’s back to work. New albums from James Blake, Kid Cudi, The National, Big Sean, Talib Kweli, Tyga, The-Dream on the way with singles to keep our ears perked until then.
Monday Tuesday to everyone, hope you all enjoyed Easter Weekend and any time & a half pay you may have received. Lots of good music this past week, so let’s get into it.
That’s how many copies of Mr. Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience were sold in just the first week. The once N’SYNC member has graced us with three solo albums, all of which progressively did better on the selling charts. Justified sold 439,00 first week, FutureSex/LoveSounds moved 684,000 and according to Billboard 200, the official US Album Chart, The 20/20 Experience surpassed both with nearly a million copies. The album is fantastic if you haven’t already listened to it, his style and maturity have progressed, making the record smooth and diverse.
