Welcome to 2013 my AHM readers. I apologize for the break, this winter season has been quite the busy one. Regardless, it’s time for some new music. I’ve gone through the last few weeks and attempted to dig out all the gems, so let’s get into it.
Weezy is coming back with I Am Not A Human Being II, and so far it’s shaping up to be better then his last few projects. Mike Will continues his insane roll of monster beats with this one, Future on the bridge and Drizzy on the hook. The release date for the album is set for mid-February.
I’ve been feeling almost everything Euroz has been dropping lately, but this was the track he needed. Meek Milly delivered hard over this Sweetz Got Beatz composition.
The solo version of this track was hot, but with MMG, it’s explosive. Produced by Devin Cruise.
I received a heads up to give Flatbush Zombies a closer listen, and since then I eagerly wait new releases from them. The Brooklyn trio has delivered another unique joint, with a smooth beat from in-house producer Erick Arc Elliott.
The Jet Life Spitta is just too smooth, this one is featured on his latest 3-track EP.
This beautifully haunting ballad from Mr. Ocean is a leftover track from the Django Unchained soundtrack.
This is the third collaborative project from the phenomenal producer. Est. In 1989 (Part 2.5) dropped Christmas eve.
Another beauty from the up and coming 23-year old Vegas rapper. The Foundation 2 is on it’s way, for now just enjoy this smooth ride.
Tyga gets Rozay to help him out over this intoxicating beat.
Cole rings in the New Year with a freebie that both displays his flow, diversity and producing ability.
The 19-year old rapper of Odd Future just keeps on churning out good music. Produced by Terrence Clayton
Another leak off the upcoming LP I Am Not A Human Being II.
Off their Flower Of Life EP.
MMG’s Wale dropped his Folarin mixtape on Christmas eve, and it’s a beauty. It was hard to pick a couple favourites, but here they are. Hit-Boy on the feature and Austin Millz on the beat.
Produced by Rico Beats. You can download the whole mixtape HERE
Ryan Hemsworth can do no wrong. Whether it’s an original composition, or a remix, this dude does work. “BasedWorld” is deep, mysterious and incredibly triumphant. I cannot wait for a full length project from this guy.
This track may come as a surprise to most of you (as it did to me). Skrillex goes for the more ‘calm and collected’ look. You can find it on the 3-track EP Leaving.
The xx’s xxmas single was part of the iTunes ’12 Days of Christmas’ downloads. Jamie reconfigures his own material and adds a little more colour to it.
I thought I had heard every variation of every Lana Del Rey track, but I appreciate what Sound Remedy did with “Video Games.”
As if Adventure Club hadn’t already treated us with a remix of my favourite Foxes song, now the frequent Zeds Dead collaborator Omar Linx adds some fire to the mix.
Ms. Banks drops a club banger strictly for those party playlists.
