Good afternoon, and welcome to the Monday (Tuesday) Blues & Beats. The season has yet to slow down for me, but i’m always determined to keep up with the weekly mixes. In today’s compilation, we have A$AP Rocky’s highly anticipated collaboration, a couple new ones off T.I.’s album which dropped today, Disclosure’s Artful Dodger remix, a Wale freestyle and more.
A$AP lets go of one of the most anticipated tracks off his upcoming album Long. Live. A$AP., which drops January 15. This fully loaded clip has features from all over the map, KDot representing the West, KRIT the South, D Brown the Midwest, while A$AP, Bada$$ and Bronson hold down the East. It’s only right that Surf Club’s Hit-Boy dropped the beat for this fire collaboration. Pre-Order the album on
The British duo Disclosure has chopped up another addictive tune, this time adding a slight edit to their fellow English R&B/Garage group’s 2000 track “Please Don’t Turn Me On.” How they came up with the idea to fool around with a 12-year old track is beyond me, but it works.
This grimy beat further displays Cardiak’s diversity.
On the eve of the release of Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head, an album some thought we’d never see, TIP drops some final promotion. They feature two of the top rookie rappers of 2012, somehow I don’t think it was an accident these two tracks hit the web. “Wildside” produced by Chicago’s No I.D. Get Trouble Man now on
Bondax is two teenage DJs/Producers from Lancaster, Britain and man do they know what they’re doing.
MMG’s Wale is planning to drop the Folarin Mixtape soon, but decided to let this freebie go. In my opinion, this is one the better tracks he’s dropped in awhile. Everything from the beat (courtesy of C Note), to his flow, to his natural ability with the mic, to the lyricism – “And I pray for truth and I pray profusely while shaking Lucifer / May God have us, in this time we ain’t all together / We all pot, all day I hear you calling kettle”
The xx graced BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge to do a Wham! cover of the classic “Last Christmas.”
Black Hippy’s most intricate lyricist drops a freebie, with the help of TDE in-house producer Willie B.
There’s clearly no love lost between Arts & Crafts and Stars, as the BSS/Stills combo remix one of the tracks off Stars latest record The North.
Jeezy just dropped his It’s Tha World mixtape, and this definitely has to be one of my favourites off the project. Trey lends a helping hand for the smooth hook, while the unstoppable Mike Will creates another dope beat.
Red Cafe also dropped a mixtape this week, American Psycho, and it has a few high points. Throwing this track in the mix was a toss up for me, Positives: 1. Game 2. Fabolous 3. The beat vs. Negatives: 1. Chief Keef 2. French 3. Content. Produced by Shutdownbeatz.
